I didn't take this picture (obviously). I found it on a nice web site while trying to identify a butterfly I saw the other day with black wings that looked like they were polka dotted. This might not be it, since this one evidently doesn't travel east of New Mexico, but it was as close as I could get.
Whatever it was I saw, the thing it reminded me of the most was this Guy's guitar:
